OÄŸuz Kemal BaÅŸar is an architect, photographer and researcher born in Istanbul, currently based between Italy and Turkey. He holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Architecture and Landscape Architecture, with a specialization in Cultural Landscapes, from Politecnico di Milano. Alongside his architectural journey, he has dedicated over a decade to black-and-white analog photography and darkroom printing. For him, photography is not only a visual practice but also a narrative tool, one that uncovers the cultural layers of landscapes and the everyday stories of societies. His work and research often take him across borders, especially into remote and mountainous regions. He has participated in various ecological and cultural initiatives in the Alpine territories, focusing on traditional land use and vernacular architecture. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in “Protection of Mountain Areas and Ecology” at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano (unibz) in Italy. He is also the co-founder of A30 Architecture, an Istanbul-based studio working at the intersection of space, memory, and environment.
